I've been wanting to watch this Lily Allen documentary for ages. Ever since i first heard about it.
I get annoyed when celebrities throw around their 'eating disorders' and it is used as some way to get more publicity...It pisses me off.
Its just come on now. I proper want it to be good.
And yeah, please don't piss me off and/or trigger me
!
My thoughts exactly. I've been waiting a good couple of weeks for it to start.. And it was okay. Just really threw me when she said 'yeah I had an eating disorder. I was throwing up. I wasn't happy.' - right... Fair enough, that may be very true but there was no need to state it so openly .. x
ReplyDeletei watched half of it last night and i'm watching the rest now- don't worry, aside from that one bit at the beginning, nothing more's been mentioned of it, i thought it would be focusing on the eating disorder (although to be fair there's still a little bit to go). xxx
ReplyDeletewait a sec tanman, why shouldn't it be stated openly? x
ReplyDeleteI don't think she did anything wrong...
ReplyDeleteShe was at a period in her life where she had miscarried at around 6 months.
She has always had a turbulent career and an eating disorder was one aspect of that.
Purging after dinner IS eating disordered.
It breaks a fundamental safety mechanism that "normal" people with healthy minds, wouldn't break.
Any one, not eating disordered, wouldn't resort to such behaviour because it breached self-care.
Purging after food, is an eating disorder.
It is all on a spectrum granted, but it IS distorted!
I actually really liked the show.
Lily is troubled but at least she is trying to apply herself in a creative and healthy way xxxx
